Embracing innovation: AT&T opens 1st Foundry in Latin America

The below blog post is by Kelly King, Chief Executive Officer – AT&T, Mexico

Companies today know the worth of being on the cutting-edge of technology and advancement. After all, it can be the difference between accelerating their businesses or staying behind in a rapidly-changing world.

In my last entry, I spoke about technology’s great potential to drive emerging economies. And, as I previously mentioned, we are seeing developing economies begin to take the lead on the innovation front. They are now creating solutions that face their specific challenges, instead of adapting existing ones.

It is no secret that emerging markets are gaining strength: their growth is projected to reach 4.5% in 2018 (up from 4.3% in 2017) and to an average of 4.7% in 2019 to 2020. [1]

At AT&T we recognize the enormous potential and talent in emerging economies. We decided to couple that with our deep commitment to innovation and open an AT&T Foundry in in Mexico, the 1st in Latin America and the 7th in the world.

AT&T Foundries are innovation centers that seek to accelerate the launch of new products and services; they serve as the front door for startups and other innovators who want to work with us, and fuel discussions on the future of our business and the industry at large.

Located in Plano, Houston, Atlanta, Palo Alto, Israel, and now Mexico, these are spaces where accelerated innovation takes place. Where designers, engineers, experts and startups can learn and test ideas quickly. In 12-week cycles, ideas go from concept to prototype, opening a world of possibilities.

In Mexico, the AT&T Foundry will harness local talent to tackle the challenges faced by emerging economies worldwide. It will be dedicated to the creation of technological solutions, including Internet of Things (IoT), software and technology trials, not only for Mexico, but for developing markets everywhere.

Here, developers will work with AT&T technology experts, and have access to resources they can’t get anywhere else, and accelerate their innovations, working hand in hand in synergy with other AT&T Foundries worldwide.

That’s part of its beauty: The Foundry in Mexico will leverage the talent and experience of all our innovation centers, while it will now become a contributor to the technologies being developed in other countries. All of this, is for the betterment and acceleration of business, technology and people’s lives worldwide.

This is our vision. We are here to work as a team to build the future of a connected Mexico and accelerate businesses in emerging markets everywhere. The AT&T Foundry in Mexico is another step towards that goal.
